Mr Raymond Cooray

It is with great sadness that we have to announce the passing of Mr Raymond Cooray. We all at the DCU are devastated at this terribly sad news and offer our sincere condolences to his family and friends.

Raymond was one of the founding members of the DCU and played an integral part in its development and held the position of Honorary President.

Raymond has played a significant part in the development of cricket at all levels in Germany with a particular focus on youth cricket. His vision and drive was to make sure that cricket is played in as many German schools as possible and in particular taking the game to new audiences. He had dedicated his time in particular to NRWCU as the youth officer. It is also key to highlight that Raymond was tasked to work with as many different members of the cricketing family and also held the role of DCU integration officer, a position which is so important in making people come together through the passion for cricket.🏏🏏🏏🏏🏏🏏🏏🏏🏏🏏🏏🏏🏏🏏

Raymond also remained committed to the adult game and founded and captained the first over 50’s club in Germany. 🏏🏏🏏🏏🏏🏏🏏🏏🏏🏏🏏🏏🏏🏏

Although it is safe to say that cricket played a big part in Raymond’s life he also was a very talented singer/song writer, who on many occasions had got on stage and enthralled the audiences with his special talent.🏏🏏🏏🏏🏏🏏🏏🏏🏏🏏🏏🏏🏏🏏🏏

We all at DCU once again pay our respects to the passing of Raymond who was a dear and valued friend and companion. We will miss him greatly on and off the pitch and particularly his guidance and support.🏏🏏🏏🏏🏏🏏🏏🏏🏏🏏🏏🏏🏏🏏
